The third annual Ann McDonald Downs Debate Tournament was held online May 15th, 2021. Justeena Kemp won first place. Allie Newkirk won second place. Eli Bray won third place. The Best Speaker trophy went to Marina Meyer.

The tournament honors Ann McDonald Downs, who was one of the first two African Americans to compete on the University of Louisville's debate team in the early 1950s. The tournament is sponsored by her daughter, Lisa Downs.

In the tournament, children debated individually using a Lincoln Douglas format modified for elementary level students.
